Representing more than 4,000 producers, the Union of Côtes du Rhône protects one of France’s most renowned wine regions. It oversees the use of the regional designation and works closely with winemakers to ensure quality, authenticity, and legal compliance. With rising global demand and growing counterfeit risks, the association turned to the KURZ SCRIBOS brand to secure its wines and enable meaningful consumer interaction at the bottle level.
The challenge
In the wine and spirits sector, counterfeiting causes billions in annual losses. In France alone, fake products account for more than 235 million euros in damage. For the Union of Côtes du Rhône, the challenge was twofold: To protect its wines from imitation and to provide a simple, scalable way for winegrowers to connect directly with consumers. At the same time, the solution had to support fair distribution of labels among thousands of producers, based on harvest yields and quotas, while preventing overproduction.
Our solution

In collaboration with the association and leading winemakers in the region, a comprehensive solution was introduced using the VeoMark® security label and the SCRIBOS 360 digital platform. The VeoMark® label, applied to every bottle, offers a visible security feature linked to a QR code that enables instant product authentication. Consumers, retailers, and experts can verify authenticity through an intuitive web-based system - no app required.
Each scan connects to SCRIBOS 360, where winegrowers and the association access two key modules: Authentication & Analysis, to verify and secure each bottle, to visualize scan data and detect suspicious activity; and Customer Interaction, which allows winegrowers to offer personalized content after authentication, such as product stories, tasting notes, or nutritional information.
The platform also includes a dedicated B2B ordering system. Winegrowers can order labels according to their assigned quotas, giving the association full transparency and control over label usage. This helps limit overproduction and ensures consistent protection across the entire supply network.
